Calm reigned in Narok town as residents defied protests called by Azimio leadership and continued with their daily business activities.
Dickson Radi, a boda boda representative in Narok town, said that the demonstrations are not important as of now instead the people should focus on trying to generate income to feed their families.
Radi added that the government should be given space to act as it should and the residents should support the government in fulfilling its agenda,
“I would wish that the people would let the government carry out its mandate while giving their support instead of marching on the street,” Radi said.
Radi further reiterated that those who are demonstrating should channel their energy into constructive activities like agriculture instead of going on demonstrations to loot and ruin other people’s businesses.
Joseph Njuguna, a bead trader, said that it is worthless to engage in the demonstration as it is ruining the economy further instead of improving it.
Njuguna noted that the demonstration is negatively affecting the tourism sector which is one of the leading income earners in the county and his business is affected as he depends on the tourists who stop over to buy the products.
Mary Wanjohi, a fruit vendor, lauded the security forces for the maintenance of peace and suppressing any kind of commotion in town and appreciated the residents for abstaining from demonstrations.
Joyce Naimutie, a Mitumba trader, said that the demonstrations are not of any importance at the moment and the government should ignore it and continue with its agenda as promised.
Peter Nyamao, Boda boda rider, said that everyone has a right to demonstrate but it does not mean that they should destroy other people's properties in the process as such he is opposed to any kind of destructive demonstrations.
Residents have been encouraged to remain peaceful especially as the town is flooded with school learners attending Rift Valley regional music festivals at Maasai Mara University.
