The Ministry of Tourism,Wildlife and Heritage has announced plans to partially fence wildlife areas to minimize the roaming of wild animals.

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Peninah Malonza stated that the fencing will help control the animals and prevent them from causing destruction to plants and harming people.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, CS Malonza explained that they are cooperating with other organizations to achieve their goal.

This cooperation will expedite the fencing process and help implement appropriate measures.

According to Malonza, international laws allow for the roaming of wild animals, but it is necessary to partially restrict their movement.

This decision comes in response to the increasing incidents of wild animals causing harm to human life.

"At the point we have reached, considering the losses they are causing, we have begun plans for fencing while still leaving corridors for animals to roam," she said.

Furthermore, the Cabinet Secretary added that they are only going to fence areas close to human dwellings and agricultural land.

She revealed that the ministry has started researching the causes of increased animal roaming.

According to their findings, the random movements of animals out of wildlife areas are due to ecological interference, such as deforestation and hunting by humans.

"Our research aims to discover ways of providing food to the animals to maintain ecological balance," Malonza stated.

Kenya  signed international agreements and committed to allowing animals to roam freely.
