Give Ruto chance, deal with him in 2027 - Mutahi Ngunyi

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi wants Kenyans to give President William Ruto time to deliver on his mandate.

The Head of State though putting on a brave face in public is finding it difficult to put his ideas in action, due to opposition protests against the high cost of living.

Ngunyi who was one of the key figures behind the scenes during retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's time in office, says Ruto should be accorded time to serve.

"I will play the lone voice from the wilderness. Give Ruto a chance. I worked for Uhuru Kenyatta and his job was hard," Ngunyi said in a tweet.

The political commentator was in the circle of those who backed Azimio leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

He says if Ruto fails to deliver, Kenyans will get an opportunity to. teach him a lesson on the ballot in 2027.

"If Ruto fails, let the people deal with him ever so harshly in 2027. But give the damn guy a chance!"

His post attracted varied reactions, with some Kenyans wondering what chance he wants Ruto be given.

"A chance to do what? He has everything," wrote Henry Orwa.

"We want him to work with what we have given him. The hard time. He gives us high cost of living, we give him hard time. Those are the terms of reference," said Mwalimu Epolo.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday said they will not relent in their push to have Ruto's administration reduce the cost of living.

He is expected to issue a way foward to his supporters today.
