Gor Mahia extend Shabana Woes

A goal in the 89th minute secured Gor Mahia a narrow 1-0 victory against 10-man Shabana in a FKF Kenya Premier league match played at the Moi international sports center on Wednesday afternoon.
Johnathan Mckinstry's side was without attackers Rogers Mugisha and Patrick Sibomana, both of whom were ruled out of the encounter due to injuries sustained in the previous match against Bidco United.
Christopher Ochieng and Benson Omala led Gor Mahia attack, while Kennedy Onyango started with K’Ogalo looking to return to winning ways.
Gor pressed the ailing Shabana side from the start with the first half ending to a barren draw.
Shabana custodian Erick Ongiri was the busier of the two keepers as he produced a fine low save to deny Benson Omala, before finger-tipping Austin Odhimabo's long-range shot over the crossbar as K’Ogalo pushed for the opening goal.
Shabana were reduced to ten-men in the 79th minute when defender Aduda Abisolom was sent off for pulling back Omala when the attacker was running clean through on goal.
With the match almost seeming to end in a draw , but with six minutes of injury time Kogalo capitalized to the red card advantage with a strike from Rooney Onyango which secured the three points for the visitors.
The Victory retains Kogalo on the second place behind League leaders Posta Rangers on goal difference with Kogalo having played an extra 9th match.
Both teams are currently 19 point with ailing Shabana trailing on the 17 position with only 7 points.
In other results played today, Tusker lost 1-0 to Ulinzi, with Murang'a seal winning 2-1 against 10-man Nairobi city.
AFC leopards were forced to a 1-1 draw by Kariobangi sharks, with sofapaka trailing KCB 3-0, Bandari FC went 3-2 past police with Talanta and Nzoia both ren shy past each other's nets.
