In a significant move towards promoting environmental conservation and embracing the government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), Gucha Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Esther Kungu met with sub-county staff for the first time at the Gucha DCC's boardroom.

During the meeting, DCC Kungu called upon the heads of departments to take an active role in tree planting initiatives and collaborate to achieve the government's development objectives.

Addressing the assembled officials, Kungu emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and the crucial role each department plays in contributing to this cause.

She urged the heads of department not to rely solely on her and the NGAO team but to take the lead in spearheading the government's agenda of planting trees across the county.

"One of the fundamental responsibilities we have as public servants is to protect our environment and promote sustainable practices," DCC Kungu stated.

"I encourage each of you to plant at least 30 trees per year in your respective localities. By doing so, we can collectively make a significant impact on the fight against deforestation and climate change," she added.

The call to action for tree planting comes at a time when the world is facing unprecedented environmental challenges. The sub-county’s commitment to this cause therefore not only addresses climate change but also supports the national government's efforts to meet its reforestation targets.

During the meeting, the heads of department expressed their enthusiasm and pledged to work cohesively to deliver the government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). The BETA initiative is aimed at enhancing grassroots development by empowering communities and ensuring that resources are allocated directly to local projects, thereby uplifting the lives of ordinary citizens.

"We are determined to make the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda a success," Peter Chetambe, one of the department heads asserted. "Our collaboration and teamwork will ensure that we efficiently implement the government's vision and positively impact the lives of the people we serve," he added.

The synergy among the various departments in Gucha sub-county is expected to streamline development efforts, eliminate duplication of resources, and foster sustainable growth. By embracing the BETA approach, the sub-county is positioning itself to be a model for transformative governance at the grassroots level.

DCC Kungu concluded the meeting by expressing her gratitude to the heads of the department for their commitment to the government's agenda. She reiterated her confidence in their capabilities to drive meaningful change and encouraged them to maintain a strong focus on the well-being of the community they serve.
