By Wang Zizheng,
Guinea-Bissau will soon have its own national air carrier, Minister of Transport and Communications Aristides Ocante da Silva has said.
"Dubbed Guinea-Bissau Airlines, the new company will ensure the connection with the countries of the sub-region and the rest of the world," the minister said Thursday at the signing ceremony of an agreement between the government and Jitaa Aeronautics Inc., a Canada-based company.
"The country's Muslim pilgrims will soon be able to use this company to go on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia without any difficulty," said the official, who did not specify when the Guinea-Bissau Airlines will start operating.
He said that in the first phase of implementation of the agreement, Guinea-Bissau will get 30 percent of revenues.
