Isaac Rutto handed lifeline by President Ruto
By Peter Ochieng
Former Bomet governor Isaac Rutto has been handed a lifeline.
President William Ruto on Wednesday nominated him to be a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Also nominated to the 11-member JSC is Caroline Nzilani Ajuoga.
The two will face Members of Parliament (MPs) for vetting.
If their nomination is approved by the legislatures, they will represent the public in JSC.
Rutto and Ajuoga will replace Felix Koskei and Prof Olive Mugenda whose five-year term is set to expire in November, 2023.
Koskei left the commission towards the end of 2022, and he is now the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet.
Isaac Rutto served as the first Bomet County governor from 2013 to 2017.
During that period, he served as the first chairperson of the Council of Governors.
During the 2017 polls, he lost to the late Joyce Laboso.
In 2022, his comeback was thwarted as he lost to current Bomet governor Hillary Barchok.
