The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) is planning to auction some of its aircraft, engines, and associated parts as well as assorted spare parts.
According to a public notice shared by KDF on their official Twitter handle, the aircraft and equipment will be sold on an ‘as-is-where’ basis.
Individuals interested to participate in the auction will be required to purchase a catalogue by paying Ksh1,000.
“The aircraft/equipment/spares can be viewed from 11 April 2022 during working days only (Monday-Friday) except on public holidays at Moi Airbase (Eastleigh) starting from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm after purchasing the catalogue,” reads part of the public notice.

Interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable bid number deposit of Ksh200,000 for the aircraft and Ksh50,000 for engines and spares, after which a receipt will be issued.
The receipt, KDF notes, will be presented at the entry gate of the yard on the day of the auction for one to be issued with the bid number.
“No one without a bidding number will be allowed to participate in the auction,” noted the notice issued by the Head of Supply Management, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense Principal Secretary.
Successful bidders will be required to pay at least 10 per cent of the bid at the fall of the hammer with the remaining balance expected to be cleared within 21 days.
“Bidders who will purchase the aircraft will be required to ensure that any Ministry of Defense markings are erased and painted with different colors before being allowed to operate,” said the notice.
The public auction has been slated for May 3, 2022, at Moi Airbase (Eastleigh) from 10.00 am.
