Kenyans urged to unite, build economy

Kenyans have been challenged to put aside their political differences, and embrace unity of purpose in a bid to revive the country's 'battered' economy.

Speaking on Sunday in Kanduyi, Bungoma Deputy Governor (DG) Jenipher Mbatiany called for unity, appealing to Kenyans to bury their past political differences for the sake of putting the country on the right track.

"This is not the time for blame games. We are united under one Nation and should work towards reviving our economy, bring down the high cost of living and improve the livelihoods of our people," she said.

She said the country can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere, lauding the opposition for calling off the bi-weekly protests, which were called to push for electoral justice and demand for lowering of the cost of living among others.

"It takes noble character, patriotism and fear of God. Putting aside personal interests for the sake of the Nation. Our brothers in the opposition have diligently forgone personal vendetta for a better Kenya. I want to appreciate their gallant efforts. They should now give the President ample time to execute his manifesto and bring the cost of living down," she added.

She at the same time reassured Bungoma residents of governor Ken Lusaka's commitment to ensuring development is realized in all the Sub Counties as per his legacy.

"The dream of making Bungoma county great is on course, governor Lusaka has already rolled out projects in every department, with our able team behind us, we shall achieve our legacy regime."

Mbatiany urged the church to work closely with the county government by offering guidance and oversight.
