Kibiwott Kandie defends Valencia Half Marathon

Kenyan Marathoner Kibiwott Kandie has won the 2023 Valencia Half Marathon clocking 57:40 in Valencia, Spain on Sunday, October 22.

Kandie was too fast for second place Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha who followed closely at 57:41.

The title has helped Kandie defend his title which he won in October 2022 clocking 58:10. 

Ethiopian athlete Gebrihiwet Hagos secured third place with a time of 57:41, securing third spot in the highly competitive race.

Kibiwott gathered up his energy levels against the fierce Ethiopians who kept him under pressure from the starting line at the 10Km mark. 

Meanwhile, Barega Selemon finished fourth at 57:50 while another Kenyan Sebastian Sawe, finished fifth with a time of 58:29. 

Chepkwony Hillary finished sixth at 58:53,Kemeli Mathew coming 7th at 59:00 while Kemei Nicholas finished 8th at 59:06.

In the Women's race, Kenya dominated with Margaret Chelimo winning at 64.46.
