KMTC slots: Over 30, 000 miss out

Thousands of learners who hoped to study medical related courses will have to pursue other ambitions.
This is after over 30, 000 of them who looked foward to joining Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campuses across the country, missed out due to limited opportunities.
According to Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), some 11, 000 students are expected to join 71 KMTC campuses across the country.
Agnes Mercy Wahome, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Thursday told members of the National Assembly committee on health that 42,610 had applied for different courses, at KMTC.
Wahome said during registration, some applicants tried to use fake certificates but their plans never materialised.
"KUCCPS averted several attempts by some applicants to use fake certificates to register, and the matter is currently under investigation," she said.
Successful candidates will join KMTC campuses in September, 2023.
KMTC institutions in Kisii and Kericho registered high numbers during the application exercise, while Lamu, Samburu and Tana River counties had the lowest enrolment.
