Lodwar Water and Sanitation Company has launched a campaign to have residents pay Sh 40 million of unpaid water bills amidst concerns from residents to have the company address perennial water shortage.

Speaking during the launch of "Lipa Maji' campaign meant to encourage clients to clear LOWASCO water bills, CEC Water Services Faith Aletea said the company has been revamped and now has a new managing director and more technical staff seconded from the County Government.

Aletea said the revamping has borne fruits and has managed to increase revenue collection from Sh 1.7 million to Sh. 4.8 million in the last two months.

During the flagging off of the roadshow that marked the commencement of the week-long activity, Aletea said the Department intends to host Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai as the chief guest on Monday August14 in Lodwar Town to help pass the message of the Water Company.

The CEC calls come at a time when residents of Lodwar are grappling with frequent water shortages that last for days.

Led by acting MD Esther Lokitoe, staff of the Water Company walked through the town creating awareness to the general public on the various options and methods of finding information concerning the status of their water accounts.

Also present during the event were Simon Etom (Chief Officer Water Services), Paul Lotum (Ag. Director Water Services), and Alfred Lomodei (Principal Administrator).
