Makueni county government has acquired a 20-acre piece of land near Kwa Kathoka to establish a Waste Management site in order to relocate Ndue Nguu, Wote dumpsite.
County Executive Member for Lands, Urban Planning and Development, Environment and Climate Change Dr. Sonia Nzilani has said the government has set aside Sh. 10 million for fencing the area.
“The County government has secured 20 acres of land near Kwa Kathoka and set aside 10 million to fence the new waste Management site,” said Dr. Nzilani on Thursday at Ndue Nguu, Wote dumpsite during a cleaning exercise.

She said they have collected garbage in the towns while sensitizing people on the importance of a clean and safe environment.
She added that they have planted trees on the new site in order to conserve the environment.

“The county is prepared for the El Nino rains, we have strategies and we have sensitized residents as we anticipate the rains,” she added.
