A young man has left residents of Kosele trading centre in Rachuonyo south sub-county in shock and disbelief after his lifeless body was found on Monday morning.
Scores of people milled around the body that was squeezed into a corridor in one of the residential plots near Kosele market.
There were blood spills a few metres from where the body was found lying.
The body also had injuries on the forehead and the left side of the head had visible dry strips of blood over the face.
The man identified as Elly Ochieng Odhiambo who was around 20-21 years old had his head covered with dreadlocks.
Though Odhiambo was not a regular face to many dwellers in the trading centre his mother Eunice Akinyi is well known since she owns a stall in Kosele market where she sells vegetables and fruits.
At the scene, Eunice was seated beside her son’s body mourning.
Otieno Damson, a boda boda operator said they were together with his cousin on Sunday morning and did not know his whereabouts until that morning.
Otieno said his cousin had a hearing impairment and called on the police to help identify the person who might have killed him.
North Kamagak Chief Benson Midigo who was at the scene said at 10 pm the previous night, he received a report that there was a man moving along the Simbiri-Kosele road shouting and daring anyone ready to a fight.
He said the residents confirmed that it was indeed the deceased who was walking from home at Simbiri to Kosele shouting adding that it was not clear how he met his dead.
“Let us give the police time to carry out investigation to tell us what happened,” he said.
He however noted preliminary report indicates there was a fight in one of the bars a few metres from where the body was found but promised the police are going to do their work.
He said the body has since been moved to Rachuonyo level four Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
