The Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF) has launched a unique medical insurance product tailor-made for its registered members.
The Nakuru branch KENAFF secretary Mrs. Rhoda Kilonzi said they have partnered with the Britam Company to offer the farmers comprehensive and affordable medical coverage. She was speaking today at their offices in the Nakuru showground.
She said the eligible applicant and the spouse should be between 18 and 75 years when registering and children up to 24 years would be covered as long as are still in college.
However, she said farmers with more than one wife would be covered as independent principals and would be required to fill out separate application forms.
She stated that the benefits would include out and inpatients treatment including drugs, maternity, resident doctor’s charges, nursing fee, and laboratory and radiology charges.
Additionally, she said the inpatient premiums would range from Sh3000 to Sh11000 annually depending on the financial abilities of the individual farmers.
Mrs. Kilonzi stated that their core mandate is to represent, articulate, and promote the interest of the farmers through advocacy and empowerment, adding that farmers just like all other professionals in the country required a personalized medical cover that caters to their needs.
KENAFF is the apex, umbrella farmers’ organization in the country. It was founded in 1964 in Nakuru as the Kenya National Farmers Union. The organization is non-political, and not-for-profit.
