Men warned against preying on schoolgirls

The spouse of Makueni Governor Madam Anita Mutula has warned young and married men to avoid engaging school-going girls in premature relationships that lead to early pregnancies.

Mutula said parents should take time and educate their sons on the dangers of impregnating school girls among them abortions.

She was speaking yesterday on Tuesday at Tawa Sub County Hospital in Mbooni, during World Contraception Day.

Madam Mutula added that young mothers should be introduced to family planning methods in order to prevent future pregnancies and unsafe abortions.

Consequently, Mutula challenged the healthcare workers and stakeholders to create awareness by providing information on contraceptive information for young people.

“We should improve awareness of contraception to enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health,” added Madam Mutula.

She added that family planning contraceptive methods are available at the health centers across the county.
