Mildred Cheche appointed Junior Starlets coach

Mildred Cheche has been appointed head coach of the Kenya U17 Women's National Team, popularly known as Junior Starlets.

Cheche is former Kenyan international, and currently serves as the assistant coach for the senior women’s national team, Harambee Starlets.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in a statement officially announced that Cheche will be deputized by Ann Aluoch. The two tacticians hold the Confederations of African Football (CAF) B coaching license.

"The Football Kenya Federation has named Mildred Cheche as the new head coach of the Junior Starlets, the U17 women’s national team. Ann Aluoch will assist her,” FKF said.

"They are both CAF B license holders. Coach Mildred Cheche, in addition to her new role, currently serves as the assistant coach for the senior women’s national team, the Harambee Starlets, as well as the Rising Starlets. Ann Aluoch also currently holds the position of assistant coach for the U15 women’s national team."

Their immediate task is to prepare the Kenya U17 squad for the 2024 FIFA U17 World Cup second-round qualifiers, where the Junior Starlets are set to face DR Congo.

The away match is scheduled for February 4, 2024, before the second leg is played on February 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe has joined Azerbaijan Premier League side, Sabail FC. The deal was confirmed as part of the club's winter transfer window activity.

"Səbail PFK has completed the signing of another footballer during the winter transfer window. The team has inked a contract with Ayub Masika, a member of the Kenyan national team, following the earlier acquisition of Madi Queta. The 31-year-old midfielder, who most recently played for the Chinese second-division club Nanjinq Siti has had a career that includes stints with clubs such as Genk, Lierse, Beinjing Renhe, Ridding, Vissel Kobe and Buriram United," the club announced.

The winger expected to be at his new club until end of the season.
