Nyeri Diocese Catholic Archbishop, Anthony Muheria, has corrected the government’s approach in addressing the problems facing Kenyans including the high cost of living.

Arch Muheria says so much effort is being expended on finding culprits and endless blame games when mistakes happen instead of seeking out solutions from experts.

Citing the release of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education 2023 results which were marred with glitches and the power interruptions that have affected the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for the third time, Arch Muheria is now urging the government to change tact and embrace dialogue as one of its problem solving mechanisms.

According to the Nyeri Archbishop, the solutions to the county’s problems will only be found when leaders agree to sit together and listen to one another. Additionally, he noted that solutions can only be addressed when those in power agree to enlist help from experts.

“We seem to be thinking about pointing fingers, we do not seem to see what the problem is to try and solve them,” said Arch Muheria who was speaking at Our Lady Consolata Cathedral in Nyeri.

“The Catholic Bishops have insisted that solutions must be found by sitting together, listening and talking to experts in and out of government, in academia and people who know and have solutions. Problems exist for all of us but no one has a monopoly of solutions just like we do not have a monopoly of problems. We must share them by seeking a way of talking,” he added.

At the same time, the Archbishop has called on Kenyans to work together irrespective of their political persuasions. He urged Kenyans to use the Christmas season to reflect on their actions. Additionally, he said that despite the hardships that they are facing, they should use the Christmas festivities to restore hope.

“Let us give Kenyans the Christmas gift of listening to one another. This Christmas season should teach us to appreciate one another and we must learn to work together because Kenya is for all of us,” he stated.
