Police hunt for unknown woman linked to murder of Nairobi Hospital finance director
By Peter Ochieng
Police in Nairobi have intensified the search for a woman alleged to be behind the murder of Eric Maigo.
Until his death, Maigo was the acting finance director at Nairobi Hospital.
He was found dead at his Woodley home, Nairobi on Friday. Police say his body had 16 stab wounds, 10 among them on the chest.
According to Kilimani Police Station boss Moss Ndiwa, neighbours heard him groaning in pain before his death.
“We are still on the case, but the neighbours said they heard him groaning in pain and the woman who was in the house refused to open the door, but had escaped when police arrived,” he said as quoted by the Nation.
He added that police are trailing the unidentified woman, who they suspect might have escaped through the window after committing the hideous act.
Maigo was aged 36, with reports indicating that he was not married.
Nairobi Hospital Chief Executive Officer James Nyamongo appealed for calm as investigations continue.
"Unconfirmed reports that we have at the moment been told that Eric's lifeless body was found in his house by neighbours this morning at around 6 am," he said in a statement.
"Eric was a very dedicated member of staff who gave his best to the success of The Nairobi Hospital. Let us all keep his family in our prayers as they go through this trying moment," he added.
