The government has confirmed no fatalities linked to ongoing floods, praising the emergency response team's collaboration with the public to prevent further tragic outcomes.

The Government Spokesperson Dr. Isaac Mwaura stated that flood waters are gradually receding in Lamu, Tana River, and Garissa counties, with no new cases reported concerning the displacement of people.

” Fortunately, the situation is being closely monitored in five other counties, including Taita Taveta, Narok, Migori, Homabay, and Siaya due to the current forecast of heavy rainfall and isolated storms in these regions,” added Mwaura.

The government is committed to providing essential relief supplies to affected counties to support communities recovering from floods. Active plans are likewise underway for the second phase of relief distribution to the affected counties in acknowledgment of the evolving situation.

The Government Spokesperson stated that a comprehensive approach will provide necessary support to the affected population for recovery and building. He maintained that the Disaster Response Command Center remains steadfast in providing immediate relief and support to those affected by the floods in different parts of the country.

Mwaura revealed that government agencies and humanitarian organizations have collaborated to provide essential assistance like food distribution, temporary shelter provision, medical care, water and sanitation support, and restoration of damaged infrastructure restoration.

He thanked individuals, organizations and government bodies involved in the ongoing response efforts and aiding in navigating through this period and encouraged the public to immediately report cases of flood emergencies, via the toll-free line: 0800721571.
