Raila calls Ruto 'Mr next week' over unfulfilled promises
By Peter Ochieng
Azimio Leader Raila Odinga on Monday decided to use President William Ruto's word against him.
On his social media pages, Odinga shared a video montage of news items from various TV stations, focussing on Ruto's promises to Kenyans.
The pledges include lowering the cost of flour and the cost of living by 'next week.'
President Ruto made the promises at the height of opposition protests early this year.
Despite his word, things have since moved from bad to worse as prices of basic commodities continue to rise.
"Mr Next Week," Odinga captioned the video clip.
A section of Kenyans who reacted to the opposition chief's post said the president had failed to act on his promises.
"That's the easiest way to lie coz every month has four weeks and on and on and on.... so he can't run out of weeks since he didn't specify, yaani "siku hazigandi" just pick which week you think he meant,... great word twister," wrote Nambie Nyatengo.
Benedict Kimotho said, "I’ve lost all respect for those who still have hope in Mr.Next Week. Either they genuinely lack discernment or they are unconscionable liars."
However, other respondents said the Head of State needs more time to get things moving.
"If the housing levy will be reduced to 1.5% then I will support the financial bill 2023. Lets Give the president a humble time to reface the country's economy," said Mike Danston.
During campaigns ahead of the August 9th, 2022 polls, Ruto, then Deputy President and Odinga uses used social media to hit each other 'below the belt.'
