Raila is still Uhuru's 'project'- Kabando

By Peter Ochieng

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader, Raila Odinga has been accused of pushing for a share in government, through protests.

Opposition demos are expected to resume next week, after a one month long break.

However, according to former Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando Wa Kabando, Odinga is not keen on the interests of his supporters, as he pushes President Ruto's administration into a corner, through the protests.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday morning, the former law maker said Odinga's ultimate goal is to get a share in government.

"I've remained supportive of Raila's grievances in the hope that our intense lobby for a public-interest agenda is centrestage. But maandamano main goal is a share in govt. I hold a contrary position. Henceforth, I'll support President Ruto if only to spur our nascent democracy," said Kabando.

"Ruto offered me direct UDA ticket, I declined. Uhuru offered me Jubilee ticket plus millions of shillings, I profusely refused. We put our hearty trust in Raila, then he picked our choice for a DP. It didn't work. I don't want to be part of crude chicanery for a nusu mkate government," he added.

He seemingly suggested that Odinga's actions are informed by thoughts of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that "Raila is still Uhuru's project."

"Ruto is not the ideal President Kenya deserved. But President Raila didn't happen. In the reality and circumstances of a Raila who's still 'project Uhuru', he represents no credible option but a perpetuation of old order. This is what we have, painstakingly, found and concluded."

Uhuru supported Odinga's 2022 presidential bid, at the expense of Ruto, his then Deputy.
