Renewable energy is the only way to achieve SDGs 7 - President William Ruto

President William Ruto has maintained his stands on adoption of renewable energy to combat global climate crisis whilst insisting that Africa has the primary resources to promote this agenda. 

"Renewable energy is the only way to achieve SDG 7 on universal access to clean, sustainable energy for all and lead the world out of the climate crisis.

Africa has enough natural resources to underwrite a new chapter in clean energy for the continent and the world. "President William Ruto said in a statement on X. 

Ruto said during his ongoing visit in Berlin, Germany where he is attending the G20 Compact with Africa Conference on “Economic cooperation, promotion of private investment”.

President Ruto emphasized that Africa is ready to offer solutions that will meaningfully contribute to decarbonization of the global economy and restore an enabling environment around condusive climate. 

"Africa is ready to create an enabling environment, enact policies and facilitate investments necessary to unlock resources to meet our own climate commitments and contribute meaningfully to decarbonization of the global economy." Ruto added. 

Ruto among other leaders are discussing how investment in renewable energy can transform Africa, the world and create jobs for millions of youths.

President William Ruto met German Chancellor Olaf Schatz, France President Emmanuel Macron and World Bank President Ajay Banga on the sidelines of G20 Compact with Africa Conference to discuss avenue of cooperation and partnership in economic and climate change avenues. 

Ruto thanked the World bank and the International Monetary Fund for their latest assistance — KSh1.8 Trillion and KSh687 Billion, respectively — which he said will rebuild buffers, tame inflation and debt vulnerabilities. 

He also acknowledged the healthy relationship between Kenya and France which has grown steadily over the years resulting in increased trade. 

The president revealed that the two nations are persueing collaboration In areas such as infrastructure, climate change and regional peace efforts, especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.
