Residents urged to dispose garbage responsibly

Residents of Busia town have been urged to handle and dispose off waste responsibly in order to ensure that the town remains clean.

Speaking to the press in Busia town on Thursday, the CEC Member for Lands and Housing Peter Odima noted that the town is littered with so much polythene papers especially within the Soko posta area.

‘Let us be responsible by ensuring that we deposit garbage at designated points so that the County government can transport them to the dumpsite,’ he said.

Odima added that the County has a challenge in garbage collection since they have only two trucks for transport purposes.

‘We also have institutional problems where market management committees fail to collect garbage from the markets to the designated points for onward transportation to the dumpsite, “the CEC said.

He reminded the market management committees to guide traders and hawkers to deposit their refuse at designated areas.
