Sammy Omollo appointed Shabana coach

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side Shabana FC have a new head coach, in the frame of Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo.

The experienced tactician replaces Sammy Okoth who was shown the door due to poor results, months after returning the side's premier league status after over 10 years in the 'cold.'

Former Gor Mahia defender Oscar Kambona who was Okoth’s assistant, has been serving as interim coach.

Omollo, former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars defender is making a much needed comeback after previously steering the wheel at the defunct Mahakama FC, Tusker FC, Posta Rangers and Kenya Police.

He led Tusker to the premier league title in 2011. In a statement, Shabana said Omollo comes with a wealth of experience.

"Sammy Omollo brings a wealth of experience, expertise and a proven track record in the realm of football coaching. His passion for the sport and his dedication to nurturing talent align seamlessly with Shabana FC's vision and values. We are confident that under his guidance our team will flourish and continue to uphold the rich legacy of Shabana FC."

"Mr. Omollo's illustrious career and his strategic approach to the game are well-documented. His leadership skills and ability to inspire players to reach their full potential make him the ideal candidate to lead Shabana FC into this new chapter of our journey," the club said.

"We extend our warmest welcome to Mr. Omollo and express our excitement at the prospect of working together to achieve our collective goals. His appointment marks a pivotal moment in our club's history, and we invite all our supporters, players, and staff to unite and extend their full support to Mr. Omollo as he takes the reins of Shabana FC."

The club leadership called for supporters to rally behind the new head coach.

"With Mr. Omollo at the helm, we are poised to scale new heights of success and uphold the spirit of excellence that defines Shabana FC. Let us rally behind our new coach and continue to showcase the unwavering passion and dedication that sets our club apart."

Shabana only have three wins, and nine defeats this season.

They are currently 17th on the log with 14 points, one above bottom placed Nzoia Sugar.

The two bottom sides will square it out this weekend.
