Sh. 15,000 fine for 21 year old accused of theft

A 21-year-old man was on Monday charged at the Kenol Law Court for being in possession of stolen goods.

Naphatali Ndirangu, the accused, pleaded guilty of the offense before senior Resident Magistrate Sheila Nyaga who ordered him to pay Sh.15,000 fine or serve a three months jail sentence.

The stolen items found in his possession, the court heard, belonged to H-Farm facilities and were stolen on the night of September 6, 2023.

The farm's manager Zachary Mwita narrated to the court how he had travelled to Migori only to come back and after conducting a patrol in the farm with two other workmates stumbled upon damaged irrigation material and missing water sprinklers, gate valves and stands.

They reported the matter at Igikiro police station.

Further, the trio visited the accused’s home where they found his father who allowed them to conduct a search and they found a water sprinkler and other stolen items hidden under Ndirangu’s bed.

Five water sprinklers, five gate valves and five stands had been vandalized from the H-farm facilities.
