The Eldama Ravine Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Koech has set the sentencing of a Mogotio herdsman who attacked a construction worker to July 3, 2023.

This is after the accused, Stephen Korir pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to kill and destroying the windscreen of a road construction worker Mr John Kibelion’ s vehicle.

The court will however await a probation officer’s comprehensive report before meting out the sentence to the Korir.

The charge sheet states that, on December 20, 2021 at around 1 pm along Mogotio-Kelelwa road in Mogotio Sub County within Baringo County, the accused threatened to kill John Kibelion using a knife and destroyed the windscreen of his vehicle.

The particulars of the case read that the accused had taken his sheep to graze along the Mogotio-Kelelwa road, which was under construction.

The complainant, who was the supervisor of the ongoing construction, asked the accused to remove the sheep from the construction area so that they could not destroy the ongoing work.

The accused got mad and told him, "I’m going to get drunk, then come back and kill you," and he truly came back later drunk with a knife, a club, and a metal rod.

The accused used the club to hit the front windscreen of the Toyota pickup, registration number KCY 789X several times and broke it while the complainant was inside.

He also tried to stab the complainant using the knife, but the complainant went back to his car, closed the window and went to Mogotio police station to report the matter.

Police officers from Mogotio police station were able to find the accused when still at the scene. He tried resisting arrest, but he was later arrested and taken to Mogotio police station.
