Teacher to serve 14 years for defiling pupil

A Loitoktok court on Thursday sentenced a primary school teacher to serve a 14-year imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl.
While passing judgment against John Ondari, Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku said the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
Ondari is said to have committed the offence on March 5, 2022 at a local hotel in Loitoktok town.
According to the minor's grandmother, on the material day, she received a call from one Joan, a nephew to the minor that she had spotted her in the company of an adult male at a local hotel.
The grandmother rushed to the scene, where a disagreement ensued between the guest house attendants and the nephew for not allowing them access the room the heinous act was taking place.
However, after sometime the accused finally agreed to open the door and they were able to get in.
In the room they found the girl standing against the wall, while the accused sat next to the bed.
Then the grandmother left the nephew on guard and rushed to Loitoktok Police station leading to the arrest of the accused.
The minor had said they had been in the relationship for quite a while and had intimacy severally.
The accused was escorted to police station, where he was charged with the offence, before being arraigned in court.
The accused has 14 days to appeal against the ruling.
