The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations entered the last day in Machakos county with no major incidents reported.

Principal Secretary for Performance and Delivery Management Veronica Nduva supervised the issuance of the examinations at the Matungulu Deputy County Commissioner’s (DCC) office and reiterated the government's commitment in ensuring that the exercise runs smoothly.

Nduva said apart from incidents of flooding reported in some regions in Marsabit county, the delivery of examinations has been largely efficient across the country.

"So far the examinations have been conducted smoothly across the country without any major hitches and in Marsabit choppers were deployed in the affected areas to avoid any delays," said Nduva.

The PS disclosed that the KCPE and KPSEA examinations will see close to 2.3 million learners transition to both to high school and junior secondary.

"Our role is to provide a conducive environment for the candidates to sit for the examinations and transition smoothly to the next levels of education,” added Nduva.

She lauded all officers involved into the administration of the examinations and called for their commitment even as the exercise comes to an end.

"We are very grateful for the teachers who have prepared the learners for the exams and the security officers for providing adequate security that has ensured successful culmination of the exams," said Nduva.

She was accompanied by County Commissioner Josephine Ouko who called on centre managers, supervisors and invigilators to ensure that they deliver credible examinations.

"If the examinations are compromised the quality of our work force will be questionable. We need to have proper trained learners who will grow into trustworthy individuals,”said Ouko.

County Director of Education Margaret Mwirigi also speaking at the same event urged centre managers to follow the examinations guidelines as stipulated by KNEC.

Also in attendance was County Teacher’s Service Commission Director Lewis Mutegi.
