Two casual labourers died after a sewerage trench they were digging, caved in on them at Tebs View Estate in Kericho town.
According to the Kericho East Sub-county Police Commander, Peter Mutuma, one of the casual laborers survived the grisly accident, Friday afternoon, when they were digging the deep sewerage trench.
The Police Boss also said one person was confirmed dead after evacuation while one died while receiving treatment at the Kericho County Referral Hospital, where they are recuperating.
“One person survived the tragic incident and is currently recuperating at the Kericho County Referral Hospital,” he added.
Mutuma, however, said the search and rescue mission continued Saturday, following reports of one missing casual laborer believed to be trapped inside the deep trench.
“I urge persons engaging in digging up deep trenches, to use safety precautions and equipment, to avert incidents of mudslides,” said Mutuma.
The National Police Service, Kenya Red-cross Society, and volunteers conducted the five-hour rescue operation at the 20 feet deep trench.
