An attempt by Busia women Rep Catherine Omanyo and leader of Roots party Professor Goerge Wajakoyo to hold demonstrations in Busia town Wednesday was thwarted by angry youths under the banner Youth for Peace.

The youth blocked the leaders’ motorcade accusing them of sabotaging efforts by both the national and county governments to revive the ailing economy.

They vowed to stand firm and protect ongoing development projects in Busia town.

They told off politicians who they accused of giving them money so they can cause destruction in the name of demonstrations.

Omanyo alongside Roots Party leader George Wajakoya and Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala were leading a demonstration at Bumala and hoped to make triumphant entry to Busia town only to be confronted and repulsed by the rowdy group.

The leaders also got it rough while addressing Azimio supporters in the estates of Bulanda and Marachi forcing them to flee for their safety.

And speaking to the press at Green Garden, Busia Youth Alliance President Lazarus Ojijo condemned a section of Busia leaders who he accused of funding destructions of property and anarchy in the name of anti-government demonstrations.

“We are in full support of Busia governor to work with the government in order to give Busia a new image. We will not allow anybody to use us for their own political mileage,” said Ojijo.

The youths vowed to counter anybody or group trying to cause mayhem in the county.
