Woman sentenced to 2 years in jail for possessing bhang

A woman was sentenced to two years imprisonment by Makueni court after she was found guilty of possessing 27 rolls of 10 grams each of bhang valued at Sh1350.
Faith Mbinya appeared before Chief Magistrate Mr. Peter Gesora on Tuesday, where she was found guilty of possessing 27 rolls of 10 grams each of cannabis sativa contrary to section 3(1) as read with sub-section 3(2) of the Narcotic and psychotropic substances control act No.4 of 1994.
She committed the offence on June 19 this year in Kalawa location, Mbooni East sub-county.
The court heard that the accused Mbinya is a repeat offender who had earlier been reported with a similar case.
The convict who was incarcerated at Makueni prison has 14 days to appeal.
