Woman stabs two children to death injures husband and self

A middle -aged woman stabbed her two children to death and injured her husband Thursday morning at their home in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

The woman is said to have stabbed her six year old daughter and two year old son using a kitchen knife before turning the knife on her husband and leaving him with serious injuries.

She then tried to commit suicide by stabbing herself severally with the same knife but was rescued by neighbors who heard the commotion.

The woman and her husband who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Sinai Health Center and later moved to the Kenyatta Referral hospital for specialized treatment.

According to the neighbors, the couple who live on the fourth floor of the rented apartment unit has been having long standing domestic squabbles but they never expected it to result in death.

Confirming the incident, Kajiado North sub county police Commander Hussein Abduba said the woman is being guarded by the police at the referral hospital and once she recovers and is fit to stand trial she will be charged with the crimes.

He urged members of the public with domestic issues to seek professional help to curb the rising cases of domestic violence in the area. “We urge members of the public who have domestic issues to get services from counselors or in churches, mosques so as to solve issues amicably, “he said.

The incident comes barely a week after a father and his two sons were murdered in cold blood in their house in Ongata Rongai by unknown assailants. His estranged wife was arrested in connection with the killings.
