Police in Keiyo North on Wednesday arrested 10 people and seized 420 litres of kangara and 84 litres of chang’aa following a raid in various chang’aa brewing dens in the sub county as the war against illegal brews continues.
The sub county police boss Tom Makori said the operation to rid the area of illegal brews will involve the police working with the county government and auditing all liquor stores within the area with an intention to revoke the licenses for all those not adhering to the law.
Makori warned illegal brewers that their time was up calling them to use the money they have so far collected to start other businesses. He warned them that they will not be allowed to continue destroying the lives of Kenyans and especially the youth.
“The consumption of these illegal brews has led many youths astray; driving them to crime and therefore it is time to combine efforts to eradicate the brews and start engaging in other legal businesses,” he said at the sub county police headquarters in Iten.
The OCPD who was accompanied by chiefs from the sub county warned there will be no letup in the fight against the brews.
