Makueni County Acting County Commissioner Moses Gicharu has cautioned the residents to avoid engaging land brokers while doing land transactions.

Gicharu said land brokers have infiltrated the County, some posing as land surveyors and they are taking advantage of residents to the extent of selling a parcel of land twice or more.

He spoke during the celebration of Jamhuri Day at Tawa Mixed Secondary School in Mbooni Constituency, Makueni County.

"There is nowhere a land broker feature in land transactions business, even during land control board meetings no broker should grab your hand to take you there," said Gicharu.

"If someone wants to sell a parcel of land, or to subdivide to your family or to give some portion to church, just go to land offices and apply for consent and you will just pay Sh.1,000 with official receipt but through land brokers or fake surveyors you will upto or more than Sh.20,000," noted Gicharu.

He said anyone in a family can apply for a land administrator to facilitate land succession warning that no person should hold hostage the family or hinder the process by hiding documents of the holder of the estate.

"Anyone in the family can apply to be an administrator, and if anyone in the family tries to hinder the process by hiding the dead certificate of the holder of the estate, please come as the family to land offices and apply for another one and continue with the process," added Gicharu.

He said assured the residents of security during and after the festive seasons.
