Airtel Money revises per transaction limit upwards

By Peter Ochieng

Airtel Money Kenya Limited has revised its per transaction limit to Sh250, 000 from the previous Sh150,000 per transaction.

The changes take effect today, 1st September, 2023.

The change in the per transaction limit comes after successful engagements with the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

It is on the backdrop of the recent review of daily transaction limits, from Sh300,000 to Sh500,000.

According to a press release by Airtel Money Kenya, transaction charges for this band shall remain similar to those that were previously charged in the Sh70,001 - 150,000 band. Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director (MD) Anne Kinuthia-Otieno said the revision will impact positively to their customers.

"The incorporation of the 150,001 – 250,000 band of transactions without any further transaction charges is part of our strive to empower our customers with flexible and personalized solutions while at the same time delivering to them exceptional value for their money."

"That signifies our commitment towards convenience and affordability,” added the MD.

"The offer will be essential for SMEs and individuals alike, allowing them to efficiently pay suppliers, employees and transfer money to other persons. Airtel’s commitment to affordability is a driver in offering unmatched value for money, so everyone can make transactions without worrying about cost. Further, Airtel remains dedicated to offering unparalleled customer experiences with innovative solutions," she said.

Airtel is a provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries in Africa, primarily in East Africa and Central and West Africa.
