Alai to Oduol: Watch out

By Peter Ochieng

Kileleshwa Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has a word for Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol.

On Monday, Oduol survived impeachment after Kenya Kwanza Alliance senators voted against the Senate ad-hoc committee's report, which had endorsed his removal from office.

Azimio senators voted in favour of the report, but were outnumbered. In what seems like a piece of advice, Alai reminded Oduol to watch out.

"William Oduol must learn politics fast. Otherwise he might think he won but he doesn’t know what will hit him next. Kenyan politics is rough. Know how to pull your strings. That was not a win. Watch-out Oduol," tweeted the vocal MCA.

Siaya MCAs impeached the Deputy Governor in May, after raising several accusations against him, including gross violation of the constitution.

His run in with the County legislatures started when the deputy county boss accused his boss, governor James Orengo of misappropriation of county finds.

Speaking after being saved by the Senate, Oduol said he will seek truce with the governor.

"I want to thank God for this victory and I equally want to thank the Senate for the very fair impartial deliberations I have heard and I want to assure the people of Siaya that our primary calling is service to them," said the DG.

"I am looking forward to going back to Siaya to join Governor James Orengo in providing effective and efficient service to the people of Siaya County. I want to use the elders and churches to help us bridge this divide."

He would have become the first Deputy Governor to be impeached since the onset of devolution in 2013.
