Babu Owino escorted out of Police Station

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Ongili is out of a police station in Kirinyaga County.

The second term ODM MP popularly known as Babu Owino was escorted out of Wang'uru police station on Thursday afternoon.

However, it was not clear where he was being taken to.

His lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru said he hopes his client will be arraigned in court.

Earlier, what seemed like a fracas ensued at the police station as members of the MPs family and friends demanded to see him.

However, Njiru denied any form of confrontation.

“The police are very cooperative, it is only some goons who wanted to bring issues here. But the police have handled them effectively,” said Njiru.

The vocal legislature was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi on Tuesday night, upon arrival from Mombasa.

His wife, Fridah Muthoni Ongili on Wednesday night informed the country that he learnt that her husband was being detained in Mwea, after spending the whole day looking for him in various police stations within Nairobi.

The MP is believed to be within the Nairobi area.
