Blow to Pastor Ezekiel as court declines to unfreeze his accounts

Pastor Ezekiel Odero of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church in Kilifi, on Monday got a major blow in court.

The Mombasa High court dismissed an application by the Pastor's lawyers to have his over 10 bank accounts unfrozen.

His lawyers had also applied for the reopening of the cleric's Television channel.

The application was also dismissed. High Court Judge Olga Sewe termed the application as entirely misconceived and untenable.

Concerning the bid to have his TV licence back, the judge said Pastor Ezekiel ought to have exhausted all the legal channels with Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK), before moving to court.

The Pastor was arrested and released after 7 days in custody, as police sought to investigate a possible link between him, and Pastor Paul Mackenzie of the Good News International Church.

Mackenzie is in police custody over brainwashing his followers into fasting to death 'to meet Jesus,' within Shakahola forest, Kilifi County.

Over 200 people, majority of them children died.
