Chakol Queens, Jobless FC crowned Global Appeal Tournament Champions

Chakol Queens from Teso South Sub-county and Jobless FC from Matayos Sub-county, are the Busia County women and men champions of Global Appeal Tournament respectively.
Chakol Queens who plays at FKF Regional League, showcased their experience in soccer thrashed their rivals Lukolis FC 3-0 in an entertaining thriller, played at Busia Stadium.
An early goal by Mourine Walela in the 5th minute, gave Chakol queens the lead and the comfort to dominate the entire first half, with beautiful touches that left hundreds of fans at Busia Stadium in amazement.
The efforts by Lukolis FC to get back in the game were unfruitful, giving the Queens two goals in the second half, after mistakes from their defender, as a result of poor communication in the defense line.
The much awaited game between Jobless FC from Matayos Sub-county against Obucuum Border FC from Teso South kicked-off at 4:00PM, that saw fans fill the stadium to capacity.
Dead-ball specialist, Oscar wafula, was a thorn to the defense of Obucuum Border FC and in the 12th minute delivered a world class cross that was headed home by Jobless defender, Evan Onyango, to give jobless FC an early lead.
Despite Obucuum Border FC lead in the ball possession of 60 percent Jobless FC stood firm not to concede a goal in the first half despite the immense pressure from opponents.
A Yasin Sije goal from the corner-kick in the 87th minute, sealed the victory for Jobless FC, assuring them of the championship.
In the opening match to determine 3rd and 4th position, Opet FC from Teso South, dethrone football legends, Masters FC, smashing them 4-1, to take home the bronze medal.
The tournament attracted scouts and coaches from top flight teams playing in the FKF premier league. Tusker FC Head Coach, Robert Matano, led the team of coaches from premier league to scout for talents.
AFC Leopard CEO and Nairobi City Star Head Coach, Nicholus Muyoti, were among the scouting team.
City Star Coach Muyoti, a son of Busia County from Madende area in Nambale Sub- county, urged sports men and women to use their talent well, to secure employment opportunities at the tender age.
He challenged them to embrace high standards of discipline, to excel beyond Kenya.
Tusker FC Coach Matano, a resident of Budalangi by birth, urged the County government of Busia to improve the infrastructure of Busia stadium, to international standards to enable nurturing of talents from the County.
The Founder and Chairman Global Appeal Sports, Yusuf Noah, assured the residents of Busia of their commitment in supporting talents from the County, by announcing officially, that Busia County will host the Global Appeal Regional tournament in July.
The Regional Tournament will see teams from Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga and Busia, compete to determine the regional champion, to represent western region at the national level.
“Busia will play host for the regional tournament in July. Global Appeal will also sponsor 50 youths, to train as referees, as a way of promoting sports,” noted Yusuf.
Four girls and six boys were lucky to be selected for trials, to join FKF premier league teams.
Busia Women Rep. Catherine Omanyo, applauded the move by scouts from top teams in the country to tap talent from grassroots promoting sports in the county.
The Jobless FC who are the tournament champions received Sh30,000, Obucuum Border, who were runners got Sh15,000, while Opet FC the second runners up to pocket Sh 10,000.
Chakoli Queens the winners in the ladies’ category got Sh25,000 with the second and third placed teams receiving Sh15,000 and Sh10,000 respectively courtesy of Global Appeal Sports.
