CS Nakhumicha responds to Matisi OCS transfer issue

During a recent funeral service in Bungoma, Susan Nakhumicha, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sanitation, responded to public criticism regarding her controversial orders for official changes outside her direct purview.
In a conversation aired on NTV, Nakhumicha acknowledged her primary focus on health-related matters but asserted her commitment to fixing errors across the government spectrum when required.
Nakhumicha stressed the importance of proactive governance, saying, "If a mistake arises, it's our duty to rectify it. I don't intend to remain idle in government waiting for others to act when I can take meaningful action. We are a team with my colleagues."
She added, "While my main role is health-related, wherever I am, I stand as a representative of the government and am unafraid to make necessary decisions. Not that I plan to repeat the same action, but perhaps I can improve on my past actions. I aim to be a responsive citizen and a decisive leader."
In the previous month, Nakhumicha had reportedly called for the transfer of Matisi OCS in Trans Nzoia county, citing a "one government approach". This statement was made during the funeral of a well-known bouncer killed in Kitale amidst anti-government demonstrations.
Nakhumicha stated, "We're adopting a 'unified government approach' in our service. It doesn't necessitate the presence of Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to sanction the transfer of the OCS in this region."
As a representative of the President, Nakhumicha asserted that she possesses the authority to order an OCS's transfer in her role as a Cabinet Secretary.
She announced, "I'm here, and I'm issuing a command. If the county commandant is present or can hear me, by tomorrow (Sunday), the Matisi OCS should be transferred."
Nakhumicha emphasized that her directives are conclusive, with the only remaining step being to inform Kindiki about the decision.
