Religious leaders in Mt Elgon Sub county Bungoma County Monday condemned Shakahola massacre and called for speedy investigations even as the government commence third face of exhuming the bodies.
Led by Bishop Francis Kabindio, the clergy challenged the government to ensure the culprits of the bloodbath face the full force of the law.
Bishop Kabindio warned rogue preachers mutilating the Christian doctrine for their selfish gains that their days are numbered. "I am saddened by the recent mass killings in Shakahola, Kilifi County. I strongly condemn this heinous act," he said.
The bishop noted that occultism should not be tolerated in the country and the world at large vowing: "We shall root out all rogue pastors and instill order in the Christian ministry."
The religious leaders further implored on the government to take action against those abusing freedom of worship and engaging in ungodly church activities.
Kabindio applauded the efforts by the government spearheaded by Interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki to ensure justice is served.
He also commended the national multi agency team for moving with speed to form a tribunal to pursue the grave issue to its logical conclusion.
The religious leaders challenged the tribunal to get to the bottom of the matter “since all eyes of the world are on them” as they undertake the heavy task.
