Muringene location residents are agonizing due to persistent cases of theft and stubbing around the area, leaving them dismayed.

This is after having one, Moses Karuti, stabbed by thugs and other several cases of motorbike, cows, goats and miraa being abducted as well as breaking of houses.

Speaking to the Deputy County Commissioner, Igembe Central, Hassan Ali, lamented that it is so unfortunate that life was lost, Monday, this week at 10:00pm around Mailitatu Market in Igembe Central.

“The incident was reported at Maua Police Station,Tuesday at noon, so far neither suspect nor eye-witness has been found,’’ DCC maintained.

He added that the Office together with the security agencies in the area have commenced a probe concerning the incident through patrols and seeking information from the members of the Public.

Ali called upon the members of the public to report the culprits and suspects to the area Chief or to his office.

He pointed out that they have put in place several deterrent measures to curb the incidents of insecurity in the area.

“The Office has come up with “Mulika Uhalifu” programme, whereby, members of the public can contact or send text to 988 any time, report where the insecurity incident has occurred and we shall respond to the matter immediately,’’ He said adding that the sender shall be anonymous, ensuring that there will be no disclosure of the caller to safeguard their security.

Deputy County Commissioner urged the public to make use of the programme to enhance security in the area.

He further noted that the Office is working with Nyumba Kumi initiative to help in security matters in the area.

“We are also conducting intelligence gathering from the residents, conducting foot and motorist patrols in the area, to ensure law and order in the area,’’ said the DCC.

Ali clarified that they will not relent in ensuring security to the members of the public and promised a great change in the sub-county in matters concerning security.

However, he insisted that no business will close due to insecurity reasons and urged members of the public to be vigilant and watchful over any suspect.

He added that they need concerted support from the public in maintaining security in the area through reporting the culprits and cases of insecurity to the nearest police stations.

He also urged the residents to be responsive and cooperate with the government so that they can eradicate the cases of insecurity.
