Deputy President William Ruto has addressed allegations that he has been ordered by the government to vacate his official Karen residence.
While addressing the media at the Ngong Racecourse on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the second in command stated that the matter is nothing to be worried about as the house was marked for renovations.
He, however, criticised the move, stating that the government should focus on other more important things such as the drought ravaging parts of the country.
"I understand we will have a new Deputy President in a few months, but I also understand that he/she will be a Kenya Kwanza politician. Therefore, I want to tell the good people planning the renovations that for Kenya Kwanza, refurbishment of the DP's residence is not a priority,

Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru warned the President Uhuru Kenyatta government against using state resources to harass DP Ruto.
She argued that it was wrong and unfair to force the deputy president and his family out of the Karen residence which is their official home. She warned the President and his allies that they are playing a dangerous game and will be shamed by the people of Kenya during the August 9, general elections.
Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, added that the DP's residence should not be touched until after the elections and warned against any move to force him out of the home.
According to reports, President Kenyatta's allies in the Senate want to push a motion to evict Ruto and deny him the perks and benefits that come with his position for opposing his boss.
