Ex Kisumu City manager lands role in Nyong'o's administration

Former Kisumu City manager Doris Ombara is 'back in town.'

She has been appointed chairperson of the board of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Refferal Hospital (JOOTRH).

Ombara's appointment was confirmed through a gazette notice number 6271, being effected by Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 31 (c) of the County Governments Act, 2012, as read with sections 4 (2) (d) and 4 (3) of the Kisumu County Health Act, 2019, I, Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, Governor of the County Government of Kisumu, appoint the enlisted persons as Board Members of the respective Kisumu County Level 4 and 5 Hospital Boards, with effect from the 14th April, 2023, for a period of three (3) years," reads the the notice.

She will lead a board of 7 other members.

They are Tom Were, Mildred Odhiambo, Festus Achila, Herbert Okalo, Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) public service, CECM medical services and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) JOORTH, who will serve as the board's Secretary.

Ombara left office as Kisumu City manager in October, 2020, after handing over to her successor Michael Abala Wanga.

Samuel Akumu will serve as chair of the Kisumu County Refferal Hospital (KCRH) board.

The board members are Steve Owiti, David Odeny, Sally Akinyi, Philip Otieno, Collins Owuor and the hospital's medical superintendent.

At the Lumumba hospital, Monica Ogutu KMET Director will serve as chairperson of the board.

Chris Oyoo, Anthony Ochieng, Pamela Agutu, Daniel Walungo, Mohammed Kuso and the medical superintendent will serve as members.

Nyabundi Sijenyi will lead the board of Kombewa hospital, while Jane Raburu will play a similar role at the Rabuor Sub County hospital.
