Five die in a grisly road accident at Mau Summit

Five people among them a child lost their lives after the matatu they were travelling in lost control and rammed into a trailer at Mau Summit area along the Nakuru-Kericho highway. 

The 10 injured persons in the Saturday morning incident were rushed to Molo and Londiani sub-county hospitals for treatment. 

According to the Kuresoi North sub-county police commander, Judah Gathenge, the driver of the 16-seater matatu was overtaking the trailer but he lost control and hit the rear side of the trailer. 

Gathenge confirmed that the driver of the ill-fated matatu is among those who sustained serious injuries.

The bodies of the four men and a child are lying at the Molo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification while the wrecked vehicle was towed to Mau Summit police station. Gathenge urged motorists to be vigilant and adhere to the traffic rules to help curb such accidents.
