Manchester united's weary form continued to cramble after falling to a 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United in an English Premier league match played at St. James Park on Saturday night.

The Magpies cane into the match bragging 5 consequtive premier league wins at home against an ailing United side which was just recovering from a 3-3 draw at Galatasaray in a UEFA champions league match on Tuesday.

It was Newcastle who dominated the first half recording 14 shots on target with André Onana producing a good save from Miguel Almirón’s curling effort, before he was beaten by Kieran Trippier’s outstanding free-kick, only for the ball to hit the underside of the crossbar.

Alejandro Garnacho had the best chance for his side but his shot was blocked by Nick pope from the angle.

It was Antony Gordon who finally put the hosts ahead ten minutes into the second half tapping Kylian Trippiers cross into the net.

Newcastle continue to knock at united's box with consistent attacks as Aaron Wan-Bissaka effortly blocked Isak's shot from curling in.

Harry Maguire would have found an equalizer for United only for VAR to rule out his header for an offside.

Newcastle's shot-stopper Nick pope was withdrawn in the final minutes of the match after conceding to an injury.

With the win, The Magpies climb to 5th in the premier league standings with 26 points while united settle at 7th with 24 points both teams played 14 matches.
