Embu County Commissioner Jack Obuo has assured residents of the credibility and integrity of the upcoming national exams.

In his Mashujaa day address at the Runyenjes stadium Friday, Obuo said that ten distribution centers have been opened around the county to ensure the exam papers for the morning section are picked at 7:00 a.m. and those for the afternoon session are collected at noon.

The county has 560 primary schools where the KCPE and KAPSEA exams will take place and 202 secondary schools sitting for the KCSE.

The County Commissioner decried a rise in the number of people committing suicide and said leaders and society in general need to think of ways to prevent the unfortunate deaths.

Embu Governor, Cecily Mbarire, commissioned 1600 community health promoters (CHPs) who will be visiting homes to check on the wellbeing of families.

She said the CHPs will be supervised by 56 Community Health Assistants in the program to be funded jointly by the National and County Governments.

Enumerating her administration's achievements one year down the line, Mbarire said they had managed to double revenue collection from Sh.300 million to 600 million by going cashless in most of the revenue collection centers and said they hope to raise Sh1 billion after going fully cashless.

She said a macadamia farmers' cooperative has now been formed that will help farmers pool their produce so that they are not exploited by middlemen.

The governor said there are plans to elevate several markets in the county to municipalities to enable them to attract funding for facility improvement.
