Government to use data to shape policy, says President Ruto
President William Ruto says his administration is keen on documenting all citizens to enhance service delivery, at all levels.
He said it is difficult to deliver effective and inclusive governance of public services, minus accurate data, especially during this digital era.
“We need accurate information on essential attributes of citizens to accurately allocate resources,” said the President.
He spoke during the 7th Identification For (ID4) Africa Conference in Nairobi, adding that proper identity and identification systems will boost democracy in Africa.
According to the Head of State, the government has instituted measures to ensure 100 per cent registration of births and deaths by 2026.
He at the same time challenged African national identity management agencies to work together and share knowledge and technical know how, on identity management innovations, while calling on evelopment partners to support government's identity management programmes.
“We operate in an environment of escalating resource constraint and yet, at the same time, we cannot postpone or downgrade our identity management endeavours."
The Executive Chairman of ID4 Africa Joseph Atick and Cabinet Secretary (CS) for ICT Eliud Owalo was among those present.
