Nyandarua County governor Kiarie Badilisha has assured residents that timely distribution of the last mile subsidized fertilizer will be observed.
Last mile distribution of subsidized fertilizer has begun with several centers acting as collection centers in Ndaragwa, Njabini in Kinangop, and Kipipiri sub counties.
Distribution in the sub counties started late last week after a new consignment which had been delayed as a result of logistical hitches from the national supplier has arrived in the county with more expected this week.
“While we regret the delay which was beyond us, we are happy that with this constant supply, we are now able to move this fertilizer closer to the farmers. I have the assurance of the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Mithika Linturi, whom we worked very closely to unlock this supply hitch, that we shall reach every farmer in order to support our food security goals,” Badilisha said.
The Governor assured county residents that ongoing development projects will go on even as the country witnesses difficult economic times.
The governor also said that the county shall implement all its budgeted development projects even as they wait for the National Treasury, to disburse the county funding.
In attendance was County Commissioner Mohammed Barre, Shamata ward MCA Hon. Gitau Njamba, the Chief of Staff Peter Thiari and a host of other leaders from national and county governments.
The Governor was speaking when he joined Her Excellency Dorcas Gachagua during the funeral service of the late Beth Wairimu Gichuki at her farm in Muihang’ia village in Shamata ward, Ndaragwa sub county.
